Our 2-year Graduate Program is designed to equip you with a comprehensive understanding of the Northern Star operational model. The program includes both general training and specialised components tailored to help you excel in your field.
Upon successful completion, you will be well prepared to advance as a future department manager or technical expert within Northern Star and the broader mining industry.

Our Undergraduate Program is open to students pursuing a degree in engineering, geology, or surveying and have completed their first year of study.
All Undergraduates have the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience to learn and grow in their daily work. You will engage with industry experts, build a professional network, and collaborate with leaders from some of the world’s top mining business schools.
This program is designed to enhance your education and prepare you for a successful career in the mining industry.

Our Vacation Work Program is available to students in their second or third year of study, running for up to 12 weeks over the summer semester break.
This structured program offers hands-on mentoring, enabling you to apply the knowledge gained during your studies in a real-world operational setting. Successful participation can pave the way for early acceptance into our Graduate Program, provided you maintain a certain GPA and receive a positive performance evaluation during your vacation work.

Embarking on an apprenticeship with Northern Star offers an exciting and challenging opportunity to build relationships across all levels of our organisation. Successfully completing your apprenticeship will provide a solid foundation for launching your career and developing into a highly skilled tradesperson.
Northern Star offers both remote and residential apprenticeship opportunities, with all residential apprentices required to live in Kalgoorlie or local surrounding areas.

What can I expect during the selection process?
Our Early Career Programs are aimed at people new to the mining industry and their desired career path. This application step helps us to learn more about you, your preferred career pathway and motivations to join the mining industry and Northern Star. To help us to get to know you better, please submit your resume along with a cover letter and a University transcript, if you are interested in a graduate role, as a single document.
Our Early Careers Team are responsible for reviewing all applications. If you are successful in progressing to the next stage of the selection process, you may receive a call from us with some follow up questions with regards to your application and availability.
After the initial introductions, it is time for us to meet! Depending on the role and your location, you may be invited for a formal interview in person or via video call or at an assessment centre. This is a great opportunity for you to learn more about Northern Star directly from our business leaders. Our formal assessments not only provide us with the opportunity to get to know a bit more about you and assess your suitability for the role, but you will also have the opportunity to ask any questions you may have about the position, the Company and our Operations so please come prepared.
Following the formal assessment, you may be required to complete due diligence checks to ensure you meet the site entry requirements at Northern Star. Our due diligence check phase incorporates a pre-employment medical with a drug and alcohol screen, criminal history checks, assessment of your working rights in Australia and qualification checks, including a final university transcript check for our graduate roles.
Congratulations! You have successfully completed the selection process for one of our Early Career Programs. We will now prepare your offer of employment and commence your new starter onboarding.
